Why did you choose Hammonds?

A few years before, Hammonds had already been used for the fitted wardrobes in another bedroom in the home. 

So, we knew we could trust and expect the Hammonds’ process - from design consultation to installation - to again, be of great quality and a positive client experience overall.

 

What was the space like before the transformation?

It was a bedroom that lacked style, with no real sense of tailored storage solutions and in need of a re-design!

The original wardrobes in place before, were a decades-old trio of floor-to-ceiling sliding doors with internal compartments that comprised of hanging space only and a small section dedicated to bookcase shelving. This meant that the wardrobes weren’t very practical and limited the functionality of the whole space.

The re-design with Hammonds provided a timely and tailored opportunity to add:

• The client’s own style!

• A modern refresh and re-definement of the space

• An inclusive mix of hanging, shelving and drawer storage that are thoughtfully fitting to all of the client’s items and makes the best, practical use of the space.

How would you describe your interior style?

At Room of Decor, the style at the heart of the studio is considered and cohesive as a way to elevate interiors; then, layering this into the client’s own style and what they want their space to feel and look like.

In this Solo Retreat project - a principal bedroom redesign - the intention was for the room to feel and look serene, elevated and refined. The Hammonds wardrobes helped to reflect this by being a continuation of the design details:

• Neutral in colour but textured to add dimension to that whole wall

• Timeless through chrome knobs that align with the room’s existing metal finishes 

• Mixed height levels (ceiling and mid-wall height) for a balanced sense of grandeur

 

Is organisation important to you? If so why?

Organisation is important because it’s a key way for a room to feel settled, design-wise and for practicality purposes.

It’s the reason why everything has a designated space of its own and with the solution-oriented approach of Project Solo Retreat’s wardrobes, the design does that plus more!

Project Solo Retreat’s wardrobe design is thoughtful of all the types of organisation the space needs. It considered the typical items like clothing and accessories as well as, the important to remember but can be easily forgotten items that include the ironing board and suitcases. The client is happy: the organisation helps the room feel peaceful, with an elegant aesthetic and a hotel-like ambience because of its sophistication. 

 

What is the best thing about the new space?

The whole room works together well.

It is a reflection of what the client desired through a design that flows throughout the space with intentionality. 

The result of this is a bedroom that feels homely and is uniquely the client’s own; and both functional and beautiful.

 

How has the furniture made a positive impact?

The wardrobes have contributed greatly to the room being the bedroom of the client’s dreams—long-awaited but it is making the best impact to how they use the space, feel in the space and what they think of the space. 

It’s one of the first pieces of furniture they see when entering their bedroom, as it stretches across the entire back wall. 

So, the wardrobes are definitely making an impressive first and lasting impression; and are an investment worth of value.
