We were a little sceptical about using Hammonds but it’s been a really great service. The initial designer ( I think Josh from Scunny) was such a good guy and very professional and patient as we worked our way through the choices. This took time but it’s now all worth it. I did then find the initial price and negotiation elements to be unnecessary. I’d much rather the best price had been discussed first time but we got the deal we wanted in the end. The designer responded to some questions but as we procured the fire, moved electrics and needed the TV and motion bracket, this interface could have been better communicated or ideally I’d have been passed the fitters details sooner. The last few days with the fitter (Phoenix Joinery) have been brilliantly managed. Pre-coms, great attention to detail and he was a good guy. I’d let him come back and do all the work needed in my house and if I want any more work doing through Hammonds, I’ll ask for the same team as this time round. The end product looks incredible.

Great installers and end product, but the design stage needs work
Ultimately, I am very happy with the final product, but the company has room for improvement in its early stages. The installers are great, highly practical, proactive, and dedicated to solving any issues that arise on site. However, the design stage needs significantly more focus. The designer should take more time to thoroughly consider what works, explore different options, and iron out the kinks in the proposed layout. While there is a secondary survey stage intended to catch gaps, the initial design service should be much stronger. All the issues we encountered were tied to the initial proposal, leaving us to spot and correct the gaps ourselves. If the designers took more time to visualize how the design truly fits into the rooms, it would greatly streamline the process. Additionally, the firm needs to be more transparent about the practicalities of installation. A lot of furniture customization happens onsite, requiring a substantial amount of cleared space. None of this is made clear until the installers contact you right before their visit, which could definitely be managed better. In the end, the product is good, but that is largely thanks to the excellent installers bringing it to life. A stronger design process and better communication regarding installation requirements would make this a much better experience.

Delighted with the ‘Under Stairs Storage
Delighted with the ‘Under Stairs’ storage - it makes what was a cramped space much more useable. The fitter/Joiner, John Thompson, was great - obviously takes a real pride in his craftsmanship and such a nice guy with it. Brilliant!

Frequently asked questions
Wood-effect furniture uses engineered surfaces that replicate the grain, texture and colour of real timber. Unlike solid wood, these finishes won't warp, fade or require regular treatment.
It's particularly suited to made-to-measure office furniture as it maintains dimensional stability across large built-in units, while offering consistent colour matching across desks, cupboards and shelving.
Lighter wood-effect finishes – such as pale oak or ash tones – reflect natural light and prevent small rooms from feeling enclosed. Our designers often combine these with handleless doors and integrated desks to create a streamlined, space-efficient layout.
During your free design visit, we'll show you samples that suit your room size and discuss configurations that maximise floor space.
Our designers specialise in creating bespoke solutions for challenging rooms, including alcoves, sloping ceilings, or spaces around windows and radiators. By choosing fitted furniture, we guarantee every millimetre is measured and used effectively, creating a truly custom-made office that looks seamlessly integrated.
