Transport Administrator

Role Overview:

At Hammonds Furniture, we’re a family-run business with over 90 years of experience designing and delivering fitted furniture that transforms homes across the UK. With a strong presence and more than 20 showrooms nationwide, our mission is to help customers create well-ordered homes that truly reflect their needs.

As a Transport Administrator, you'll support our Transport Planner and wider logistics team by managing schedules, supporting drivers, and ensuring all admin tasks are completed with care and precision. You’ll play a key part in ensuring our delivery operation runs smoothly — getting furniture to our customers on time and in full.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the daily Traffic Inbox, ensuring queries are addressed promptly.
  • Check and print driver/crew run sheets for scheduled deliveries.
  • Head and route delivery schedules accurately each day.
  • Organise driver holiday requests and maintain the weekly rota.
  • Prepare handover documents and night crew information.
  • Liaise with Despatch & Services to process and log returned furniture.
  • Record and save driver debrief sheets.
  • Plan and allocate PLF/E-Run orders onto trunk schedules.
  • Maintain and update the fit database daily.
  • Upload driver absences, incidents, and return-to-work info to Tensor.
  • Produce and distribute weekly RSC load lists.
  • Monitor driver start times and hours, ensuring accuracy in reporting.
  • Report any vehicle defects to our partner support company.
  • Flag and report customer complaints to the Transport Manager.
  • Support ongoing housekeeping and compliance within the transport office.

How You Will Succeed:

Success in this role is about being reliable, responsive, and ready to take on new challenges. You will thrive in the role if you:

  • Have strong multi-tasking abilities and work well under pressure.
  • Are eager and willing to learn, with a growth mindset.
  • Communicate clearly and confidently with internal teams and drivers.
  • Are detail-oriented and committed to getting things right first time.
  • Know when to ask for help and are open to working collaboratively.
  • Bring a positive, can-do attitude to daily tasks.
  • Are confident using Excel and ideally have experience with AS400.
  • Understand UK geography and can support efficient routing.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary
  • 33 days annual leave (including bank holidays)
  • Pension scheme
  • Staff discounts on Hammonds products
  • Access to Perkbox – rewards, wellness, and employee benefits
  • Opportunities to progress — including into Transport Planner.
  • Supportive team environment with training and development
