Role Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Installer Academy Instructor to join our team. This role is crucial in enhancing the skills of both new and experienced installers, ensuring they are fully prepared to deliver high-quality installations that meet Hammonds’ exacting standards. As an Installer Academy Instructor, you will design and deliver engaging training programs that reflect our core values of being real, creative, and committed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Training Delivery:
    • Deliver comprehensive training programs within the Academy, equipping installers with the necessary skills and knowledge for successful live installations.
    • Develop and deliver a targeted improver course for candidates who need additional support, guiding them to become proficient Hammonds installers.
    • Conduct engaging classroom sessions and hands-on workshops, tailored to both beginner and advanced learners.
  • Installer Assessment & Development:
    • Assess and monitor installer progress throughout all courses, offering feedback and tailored training to ensure they meet Hammonds’ standards.
    • Provide extra guidance and support for those in the improvers course, helping them advance to more complex tasks.
    • Evaluate installer competency, ensuring they are ready for live installations.
  • Academy Centre Presentation:
    • Maintain a well-organized and fully equipped Academy, ensuring all tools, equipment, and resources are in excellent condition.
    • Manage parts ordering, ensuring all necessary components are available for both new and experienced installers.
    • Uphold a safe, clean, and welcoming learning environment.
  • Health & Safety:
    • Oversee health and safety within the Academy, conducting regular risk assessments and safety inspections.
    • Educate installers on safety protocols, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • On-Site Assessments:
    • Conduct on-site assessments and upskilling training to improve the retention and capabilities of new and existing installers.

How You Will Succeed:

  • Deliver Academy courses that ensure installers acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in live installations while providing outstanding customer service.
  • Develop and deliver an improver course for candidates who do not initially pass the scribe test but show potential, preparing them for advanced training.
  • Conduct engaging classroom sessions using PowerPoint presentations, covering all essential aspects of the installer role at Hammonds.
  • Provide hands-on training in a workshop setting, ensuring installers gain practical experience with tools, materials, and techniques.
  • Adapt your training methods to accommodate up to 12 installers at a time, offering additional support where needed, particularly for beginners.

What It Takes:

  • A passion for improving the onboarding experience with a strong focus on retention and installer development.
  • Previous experience as an installer or in a similar role within the home installation industry.
  • Experience in training or instructional roles, particularly in technical or hands-on environments.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, with experience managing a safe working environment.
  • A customer-centric mindset, with a commitment to providing excellent customer service.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, committed, and ambitious, with a positive attitude toward continuous learning and improvement.
  • Willingness to travel to various locations as required.
