Facilities Support Engineer
Role Overview
Are you a hands-on problem solver with an ability for keeping things running smoothly? As a Facilities Support Engineer, you will play a vital role in ensuring our biomass burners operate efficiently while also overseeing a range of general facilities maintenance tasks. If you are practical, proactive, and passionate about maintaining high standards, we want to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Oversee biomass operations, including fuel deliveries, ash bin replacements, and burner adjustments.
- Conduct environmental and compliance checks to meet legal and operational standards.
- Perform basic carpentry, plumbing, and general facilities maintenance tasks, such as fire door repairs, fitting handles, and relocating office furniture.
- Assist with the installation and repair of barriers, racking removal, and basic floor repairs.
- Support electricians during the installation of new power and data cables.
- Inspect and maintain additional fuel stores, compressor plant rooms, and chippers.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects and maintain accurate documentation.

To excel as a Facilities Support Engineer, you will need:
- Strong self-management skills to prioritise and fulfil the demands of the role.
- Basic carpentry and tool-handling experience.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing tasks and schedules.
- A collaborative mindset, contributing to a positive work environment.
- An understanding of Health and Safety standards and COSHH regulations.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
- Forklift Counterbalance Licence (or willingness to refresh certification).
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Basic computer literacy and the ability to accurately record and maintain data.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety and COSHH regulations.
Desirable Skills:
- Carpentry qualifications or NVQ Level 3 in a facilities-related field.
- Experience with heating or biomass plant systems.
- Familiarity with compressed air systems and environmental compliance.
