Capacity Planner - 12 month FTC

At Hammonds Furniture, we are a family-run business that specialises in fitted furniture and tailored storage solutions. With over 20 showrooms nationwide, we are dedicated to providing exceptional service and innovative designs to our customers. Our vision is to create well-ordered homes, and we believe our furniture has the power to transform living spaces.

Role Overview

At Hammonds, we believe clever storage helps people live better. For nearly a century, we've been helping customers bring calm and order to their homes through quality, bespoke fitted furniture. As we grow, we're looking for a Capacity Planner to help us deliver outstanding service by strategically managing our workforce planning.

You'll play a vital role in aligning installer and surveyor scheduling with business demand, maintaining high utilisation levels, and minimising lead times- all while ensuring exceptional customer experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Resource Optimisation

  • Use Planning tools (Installer Optimiser, Utilisation Report) to hit target utilisation
  • Forecast future demand and proactively manage capacity across regions
  • Cleanse data and refresh regional wallboards to reflect current needs
  • Identify gaps in resources and implement capacity improvements

Scheduling & Availability Management

  • Create additional fitting / survey slots as needed
  • Manage availability and workload balance, factoring in holidays and regional demand
  • Coordinate closely with field and internal teams to ensure schedule accuracy

Risk & Exception Management

  • Monitor low-value / unoptimised orders and mitigate operational risks
  • Escalate scheduling or capacity concerns to relevant teams
  • Produce weekly exception reports to identify missed targets or inefficiencies

Continuous Improvement

  • Use data to drive process enhancements
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to refine forecasting and planning systems
  • Contribute to business growth by aligning operations with strategic objectives

How You Will Succeed

  • Improve lead times between booking and delivery
  • Consistently meet installer / surveyor utilisation targets
  • Deliver clear, timely reporting and escalate issues proactively
  • Anticipate future resource challengers and build plans to solve them
  • Communicate effectively across teams, driving aligned, data-backed decisions.

What You Bring

  • Experience in capacity planning, scheduling, or logistics coordination
  • Proficiency with scheduling systems (Installer Optimiser, Excel / Power BI)
  • Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving approach
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • A proactive, accountable attitude with a commitment to continuous improvement
