How to add colour to a period property
A period property comes with plenty of character and unique features, but did you know that it can also be the perfect canvas for more than a splash of colour?
Hosting guests for Christmas can be one of the best parts of the season, bringing everyone together under one roof to share in the festive spirit! A few simple preparations can make your home feel extra welcoming. Here are three ways to get guest-ready:
Nothing says “welcome” like fresh bedding. Start with clean sheets, pillowcases, and a warm duvet to make the bed feel inviting. If you have winter bedding, such as flannel sheets or an extra-thick blanket, now’s the time to use it. Small touches like a throw blanket or festive pillow can add a little Christmas charm without going overboard. Consider leaving an extra blanket nearby for guests who might want more warmth.
Offering each guest a set of fresh towels is a small but thoughtful gesture. Prepare a bath towel, hand towel, and washcloth for each guest and leave them on the bed or in the bathroom. Toiletries, like shampoo and soap, can be a helpful touch—especially for those travelling from further away.
A little extra room for your guests’ things goes a long way. If possible, clear a drawer or make a bit of space in the wardrobe with some spare hangers. A few hooks or an over-the-door hanger can also be helpful for coats or bags if space is tight. Adding a small tray or bedside table for essentials like phones and keys will make it easy for guests to settle in and feel comfortable.
Enjoy a Warm and Welcoming Christmas
By adding fresh bedding, towels, and making room for their belongings, you’re creating a space where guests can truly relax. These small preparations allow everyone to enjoy a fun and stress-free holiday together, making your Christmas gathering as warm and memorable as possible.
