Framing Art for a Gallery Wall

Do you have a blank wall in your home that needs something, but you’re not quite sure what? Enter 2024’s favourite timeless trend: the gallery wall.

This curated collection of prints, photos, or artwork (whichever you love most!) transforms a space by adding a final finishing touch: and it works beautifully on both large feature walls and smaller, cosier spaces.

To begin your gallery wall, look at the colours and textures found in the décor of the space. If your room is monochrome and minimal, you may choose to add a splash of accent colour to create a focal point—or continue to keep it simple with a collection of sleek and simple images. Whichever way you decide to curate your wall, connecting your images to a central theme or aesthetic will keep your gallery wall cohesive and intentional.

Once you know roughly the theme or style you’d like your gallery wall to follow, it’s time to decide on scale. Will you opt for a series of images in the same size, or get playful with a combination of smaller and larger frames? There’s no rules with gallery walls!

Just when you’re ready to begin hanging your art in your space—step away and put down the drill. First, measure the wall, and then lay out your frames within a similar sized space on the floor. This gives you an opportunity to experiment with layouts and compositions without needing to cover any past mistakes with Polyfilla!

If you love your floor composition, it’s time to get your artwork on the wall.

This week, we’re taking a moment to create a gallery wall for a peaceful bedroom, using warm pastels and sunny yellows to complement the shades found in the existing décor. Head across to Instagram to see the finished result… and let us know if you create your own gallery wall!
