Five Trends of Christmas

Five Trends of Christmas

1.    A colourful Christmas

Christmas is a time for festive joy and fun. What could bring more fun-filled joy than a rainbow themed Christmas tree? Yes, you read it right. John Lewis (a.k.a the official sponsor of Christmas) has named the ‘Rainbow Christmas Tree’ as their top trend for 2018, and we must agree; if you can’t go colour crazy at Christmas when can you? This beautiful rainbow tree by @thehomeedit brings playful bursts of colour to their stunning, statement monochrome hallway.

We can't guarantee a pot of gold, but we’re sure there’ll be a present or two at the end of every rainbow tree.

2.    Bring the outside in

Is there anything better than having a ‘real’ Christmas tree? Yes, the pine needles can get everywhere, but does it matter when you have the true scent of Christmas throughout your home? We’re not opposed to a fake tree; they are far more practical, but there’s a certain magic you get with the real thing. So, if you’re going with the real deal, why not compliment your tree by embracing a winter woodland theme throughout your home?

Dress the tree with cute, woodland animal decorations or get crafty with the children and collect pine cones, you can dip them in gold paint or PVA glue and lashings of glitter, then either hang them on your tree or create a centrepiece for your Christmas dinner table.

3.    I’m dreaming of a white Christmas

If rainbows aren’t really your thing, make a statement with a white wonderland colour theme instead. Clean, classic and contemporary, white creates the perfect look for a Christmas with class.

Pick a snow-dusted tree with frosty-white decorations and clear glass baubles. Don’t be afraid to add a little sparkle too; we love how @p.arruda has used silver accents to wonderfully compliment the white. Topping your tree with a giant white bow like @myhomeabroad_ie_ is a beautiful alternative to the traditional star.

Trends shouldn't stop at your decorations, bring your colour scheme into your gift wrap too. Scatter your perfectly wrapped presents under the tree to complete the look.

4.    Merry minimalism

Not everyone loves all the (sleigh) bells and whistles of Christmas decorations. Want to add a festive touch to your home but prefer a more minimal Scandi look? Let the natural beauty of your tree do the talking; keep it clean and green, with nothing more than twinkly fairy lights for a modern twist on the traditional tree.

Create a true sense of ‘Hygge’ with your accessories; tartan scatter cushions, thick woolly blankets and spiced scented candles will create a festive feel without being OTT. All you’ll need is a steaming mug of mulled wine and your set.

5.    A classic Christmas

With Christmas comes nostalgia, childhood memories and festive family traditions, passed down through the generations. It’s a magical time when we can all be children again. A traditionally decorated Christmas tree is always on-trend. Red ribbons, gold baubles, chocolate coins, candy canes and nutcrackers, it’s a chance to get out all the decorations you’ve inherited over the years and reminisce. And that’s what Christmas is all about, precious family time.

Wishing you a merry Christmas and a happy New Year, from all the Hammonds family.
