An alcohol-free mojito for a summer’s evening.

With such a delayed start to the summer weather, the opportunities to get out in the garden to enjoy a refreshing drink or two has been few and far between! To help you make the most of the 10-minute windows of sun we’ve been enjoying, we’ve put together our quickest mocktail recipe yet… prepared and ready before you can say “where did I leave my sunglasses?”.

This mocktail is based on the classic mojito—with all the flavour and none of the alcohol, so everyone can enjoy.

Using the more cost-effective key ingredients from a boozy mojito, such as lime, mint, sugar and soda/lemonade, this mocktail can be made en masse for a BBQ or summer garden party.

To make your mojito mocktail, simply follow the steps below:

  1. Gently crush the ice for your mocktail. You can buy this pre-crushed, or just pop cubes from an ice tray into a pestle and mortar for a smaller portion size. Add this to your tumbler glasses.
  2. Next, drop your mint leaves and a wedge of lime into the ice. Muddle the mint and lime together to crush and release the zingy flavours that form the base of your mojito.
  3. Squeeze an extra wedge of lime over the mix for a final burst of zest.
  4. Fill your glass to the top with ice and pour over your soda water or lemonade. If you’ve got a sweet tooth, sugar syrup is a classic element from a typical mojito and can be added for an extra dose of sweetness. You can buy this from most supermarkets, but it’s easy to make at home from water and caster sugar.
  5. Sit back and enjoy!
