A key consideration was storage space as Jennifer explained: “Because Daye is an energetic four-year old, he loves playing with his toys and he has lots of them!
“When I had my offer accepted on the house I started to think about where it might be good to add in storage, so for instance the alcoves in Victorian houses are the perfect places to introduce storage solutions that are in keeping with the room aesthetic.
Initially, she had heard about Hammonds through word of mouth but thought that it would be too expensive as she needed a lot of fitted furniture, in her lounge, kitchen, master bedroom and Daye’s room. However, once she had seen the many different looks that were available in the Hammonds range and got an idea of the price points, she was really surprised by how economical they turned out to be.

What to expect from a design visit
Try out lots of options
‘At Hammonds, we create designs on the computer in front of you, rather than drawing the plan on paper as some firms do. That means you can try out lots of different ideas until you feel totally confident in your decision. We’ll even take a photo of your wallpaper and carpet and upload them to the 3D plan, so you can really imagine how different your room could be.
Prepare to be surprised
'A designer can show you solutions you didn’t know were possible,’ says Tom. ‘For example, you might have a sloping ceiling and think hanging space isn’t an option for you, but we can design cupboards that include a low hanging rail with shelves above for folded clothes or bedding.

The components of your built-in bedroom cupboards will be delivered either with your fitter or ahead of the fitting date. The fitter will liaise with you ahead of the fitting date.

Great product- a few niggles on the process
On the plus side we found the Hammonds staff helpful, professional and friendly at all levels and stages. The initial sales consultant spent time understanding what we wanted and made useful suggestions. The surveyor was also professional and clearly understood the product and what was possible. Best of all was Stan Stitson - the fitter for the main part of the contract 2 sets of wardrobes and cupboards in the main bedroom. His only problem was the under estimate of the time allotted to the installation ( 2 days instead of the 3 originally quoted - and, as it turned out- what was actually needed. The end result is excellent and certainly meets or exceeds expectations. The frustration lay with such things like Hammonds “insistence “ that the bedroom should be completely cleared. We explained this would not be possible- we could not move our bed ( it is a very heavy ottoman’s bed which requires professional assembly/dismantling etc. I made leaving this in place a condition of our proceeding - and had to do this at each stage. Stan the fitter worked round this as the rest of the room was cleared. I cannot believe this is an uncommon problem and must lose Hammonds sales. The other “strange” and annoying occurrence was Hammonds insistence on allocating different fitters to each room/job rather than the same fitter for the whole job. I am hopeful that the fitter who will come to install the wardrobe in our second bedroom will be as good as Stan - but I don’t know and it’s a shame to have to build a new relationship and explain requirements all over again. Moans aside the product is excellent, high quality, bespoke to our needs, and, if bought at sale times - competitively priced.
