Cannot recommend Hammonds highly enough. The quality of the furniture is amazing and the attention to detail that their fitters adhere to is fantastic. Thank you to Stanley for your work and not accepting anything less than perfection.

Nice furniture but a lot of hassle in lead up

Good furniture… but we found the process a little stressful We visited our local store, staff were friendly and arranged a home visit from the designer. 1st appointment, the Designer (as arranged) and was very friendly, helpful and worked with us to design 2 rooms plus an under stairs shoe storage. We decided to go ahead with the ground floor options eg 1 room and the under stairs storage. We were put off doing the first floor because we were told they do not install on top of carpet, they also do not help in anyway to cut away carpet. So they lost the upstairs room sale. We then had to arrange to change flooring downstairs from carpet to hard flooring which we did. We also had to knock out the plasterboard wall for the under stairs storage, Hanmonds do not help in anyway with this. More expense or DiY to consider. We also had to have the alarm company out to relocate a sensor. This seemed a lot of hassle and expense vs what we expected. When it came to the 2nd appointment with the surveyor, we started to have more concerns. we received 3+ appointment slots, then on the day of the appointment, the surveyor called saying they were going to be 3 hours early. The flooring fitter was still fitting so we explained it didn’t really work for us but he was quite pushy (he wanted to finish early) so insisted on coming. When he arrived he knew the new flooring was being fitted as we told him on the phone and could see the fitter as he entered (with his shoes on) he then proceeded to ask to plug in equipment and stood on some new flooring which was not yet laid, he then stood in the flooring adhesive while he wandered round, only then did he remove his shoes. He measured up and suggested some changes to designs for lounge which when we saw them were not practical. He did change these back when we asked. This felt quite chaotic as the flooring company were trying to finish up. He kept saying that the fitters will want to saw and use tools on the new flooring and we must let them. He said we’d have to clear the room they work in, or they wouldn’t fit. This was stressful. It’s a small house, downstairs is just a lounge and a kitchen. There is nowhere to move the sofa set to. They must be used to really large houses with loads of space. When it came to the fitting day, the night before we got a text saying make sure room is clear and he needs parking for his van. We replied and asked that he bring appropriate shoe covering and he could park outside the house. the fitter arrived and when I asked if he got my reply said he had but didn’t have shoe coverings and couldn’t remove his shoes. He laid a sheet down in the hallway for the under stairs storage job, but had to be asked not to keep putting items like the chaulk and applicator directly onto the new flooring, he also clunked down some heavy equipment (repeatedly). Front door was left open most of the day. House was so cold. He finished this first job midday and said he wasn’t allowed to start the other room until the following day. Shame as we had to take time off work to be at home for the work. At the end of day 1 we spoke to him about the new flooring and readdressed our concerns about him looking after it. Day 2 he arrived and had some more sheets, he asked to saw in the lounge so he didn’t have to go into the driveway, we gave in as it seems they insist on this. Saw and tools were extremely loud, my partner had to keep the dogs and cats trapped upstairs both days as front door left wide open on day 1 (all day) and on day 2 the noise was unbearable and door was left open while he went to van and back. neither the designer or the surveyor made a note of a set of sockets, so these weren’t on the fitters plans. The furniture is really nicely built, but we had to go with under stairs storage they offered rather than what you see on adverts as our space was “too small” so I question how bespoke it really is. We ended up with two sets of pull out storage (side by side) so it’s not that small. We personally wouldn’t use Hanmonds again because of the hassle explained above but if you can cope with that then the furniture is really nice.

What more can I say

What more can I say. The wardrobes are fabulous. Ceiron who fitted them for us just worked away all day until the job was finished. Lovely wee lad and we were fine with him pottering about in the house. They look brilliant and it gave us the opportunity to change the whole of the room based on the wardrobes. We love them.

Fitter arrived on time

Fitter arrived on time. Was polite and cleaned up thoroughly when the work was complete, additionally helped move another piece of furniture that had a repair completed into another room.
